Trying not to get our hopes up

We signed another contract today. We're very pleasantly surprised at how soon we received another offer. But given how our first one went and how our friends' house sales have gone wonky over the last year or two, we're trying not to get our hopes up about this one. Keep praying for us!
Here's what my wife has to say about it: http://ashortstay.blogspot.com/2012/05/what-roller-coaster.html

Roughing it in Doha

For those concerned that we won't be able to find "the comforts of home" in Doha: http://dohanews.co/post/23344867329/ikea-update-developer-says-significant-progress-made

Too good to be true

Our buyer was rejected for a loan, so we had to cancel the contract. Back to square one on selling our house. This certainly feels like chutes and ladders--utterly out of our control and potentially unending.

Most of the way there!

We just signed a contract to sell our house today. Here's hoping it actually goes through. Please pray for us that it will. If it does, we're closing and moving to Broken Arrow on June 14.
Also today: we arranged to have everything we aren't taking with us to BA or Salem shipped off June 7. It's bare bones from there on out!

T minus 15 weeks and counting

We just received our flight itinerary this morning. It's starting to feel more and more real. I've set up a Google alert for 'Qatar education' and I have it fed to my Google Reader, so every day at lunch I get coverage about how the educational system in Qatar works. I'm considering setting one up for just 'Qatar' to get even wider coverage, but I also don't want to get flooded with news items about the World Cup. I hope to know enough about Doha before I get there to prevent a feeling of not knowing where to begin when we arrive. Right now I think I'll have some ideas of touristy things to do, fun and free places to get away, and where to go for some of the comforts of home (movies and fast food). I also know that the country is starting to crack down on some of the very unsafe driving habits of its populace, but until that happens, I may have to forego going anywhere public by bike. Guess that means I'll be selling mine instead of shipping it.

Reset

You may have noticed that my blog is empty. Along with my wife, I'm restarting my blog as we start this new chapter in our lives. Of course, I didn't actually delete everything. It's all backed up safe and sound elsewhere, and if you want a copy of the whole archive of the TPMOTD, I'd be happy to send it to you. Those of you who know me know how to reach me.
